Certificate research

We decided to give our film a certificate 12A. This is because based on many drama films the age certificate is 12A, most of these films are not very hard hitting and are effective because they show normal peoples struggles in their daily lives in everyday situations. We did not decide to give out film a higher certificate, this is because higher certificates are mainly associated with horror and thriller films and this is not our chosen genre. Higher certificates also use sex scenes and strong language and the main character in our film is a young girl and her struggle to find her biological parents. Therefore sex scenes will not be appropriate for our film opening; the only focus is for her to find her true parents. We will not use strong language in our film opening; this is because the character hasn’t got that sort of personality. Besides she is so desperate to show her parents what they are missing out on and what a good person she has become. Although a strong part of her wants to shout and swear at her parents, she does not choose to do this because she knows that this language won’t solve anything.
